as a writer, dylan is keen to develop their craft further and to explore themes around queerness, northern communities and working class identities.
the numbered streets
Being a teenager is hard enough without growing up in the numbered streets.
Gabby is having an identity crisis. Mam is hooked on heroin. Shanice just wants to eat her fish fingers in peace. And Karen the fuckin’ copper needs to do one. Gabby lives at Number 13, Thirteenth Street and, along with her new friend Shanice, is navigating the ups and downs of growing up in a community that’s been ravaged by austerity. With their houses up for sale for £1 each, both of their parents absolutely not helping matters and Karen the Copper round every five minutes, their streets really do seem numbered. And the bulldozers are slowly approaching…
the numbered streets was showcased at Spotlight Studios in February 2020 as part of a Actor Awareness' Working Class evening. It had an excellent reception and was offered an on the spot month long run at a renown new writing venue before the pandemic cancelled it. It was shortlisted at Royal Court through their open submissions programme.
Boxing Day Dip
All Josh wants for Christmas is to swim with his new, legal, designer nipples.
It's Christmas Eve and Joshua is back home from That London. Home Home. For the first time in five years. And he's brought his girlfriend, Lexi. He is absolutely bricking it. Lexi's meeting his Mam for the first time, and so is he. Because Josh forgot to tell his Mam that he's not a girl anymore, never was. Tits gone and everything. Shit.
Boxing Day Dip was commissioned by Oliver Award winning Theatre N16 as part of the opening of new venue Laurel's in Whitley Bay. It was performed as part of "Coast" - an evening of short plays by local playwrights.
polyshamorous
Polyamory: it's all fun and gay until someone gets hurt.
“Long term, femme, vanilla couple seeking third to inject some fun into our middle aged monotony. WLTM youthful, spontaneous and (maybe!) kinky (!!) singles to explore a different side of our relationship. Looking for long term commitment and potentially a live in partner.” When Maxxi reads the post on HER, they’re intrigued. They’re skint, tired and desperately in need of a place to crash that isn’t their best friend’s sofa. A few months of being pampered by rich, middle aged lesbians might be alright… right? Maxxi swipes right, they’ll do anything for a roof over their head.
Having trained under Rikki Beadle-Blair MBE as part his queer artist collective Team Angelica's Fierce Youth Project, polyshamorous was initially meant to be staged at The Bush as part of an evening of Boom! plays. This was postponed due to the pandemic.
